Multi-Talented Artist Funkghost Releases New Single “Favorite Part of You”
Funkghost is best known to Tampa Fl. hip hop listeners for his first indie release “Ultra-Boogie Highlife”, which sold 20,000 copies with independent distribution. Since UBH was released, Funkghost has emerged as a seasoned producer adding song writing, acting and video production to his credits.
Funkghost started in 1990 as a studio apprentice under the tutelage of Keyboardist/Producer Edwin Birdsong, who had worked closely with Roy Ayers in the 1970′s. Funkghost continues to executive produce and is currently developing new material for his 2nd album “Dirty But Sophisticated” off his own imprint Grand Extravagant Entertainment.
” I am a fan of music”, say Funkghost. I draw inspiration from a wide variety of sources such as, music in general , life experience, even some dreams I’ve had. Besides Hip-Hop Funkghost says he enjoys and plans to record R&B, Pop, Electro, Soul, Neo – Soul, Funk, Dance, Jazz, Folk, Alternative ,in the future.

Let’s talk about your New Release “Favorite Part of You”. When we saw the Music Video we were awe struck by both the Music and the Videography. Tell us about the production piece of it.
That song was really difficult to complete, it took multiple recording and mastering sessions, and seemed endless and hopeless at one point. Then, creating and shooting the video, I used Candy Factory Studios a company based in Clearwater, FL. The end result is what you see today & is probably my favorite. It is sure to be a front runner for new videos which premiere on MTV, Vh1 and Fuse networks.
How would you describe your sound style to someone who has never heard it?
I would say my style is a Melodic Hypnotic blend of Sound, Sight, and Fashion ..
If you could compare yourself to an already established artist who would that be and why?
A dash of Puff Daddy, because i run and own my own company and like flossing. A touch of Kanye, Dr. Dre, and Timberland because i produce, perform, write and arrange. Then throw in a teaspoon of Michael Jackson for added flair then *Poof* you have a Funkghost!
Today’s artist are using Social Media and the internet to launch into their careers. What is your internet presence and where can fans connect with you?
Internet Presence is important but just a part of a bigger picture. You also have to promote grassroots in the streets with the clubs, dj’s, believe it or not in 2011 a lot of people don’t have access to computers. So word of mouth still reigns supreme in my book,”Hey did you see that new Funkghost video?” its dope!!!! then that person looks for it, sees it, then tells 2 other people and before you know it a song or video takes on a life of its own…it’s called “Growing wheels”…A bit of good fortune and luck help to.” My fans can connect with me @ the following links :

Do you aspire to one day make it big in Hollywood? Or do you enjoy being a local Artist. Where do you see yourself in say 3 years?
I can see myself in the movies. I just had a role in an upcoming independent film called “Travel Properly” which was written by my friend Rahim Samad and Directed by Jeff Osborne. I play an A&R guy from Atlanta named Ron Sexton. In 3 years I see Grand Extravagant Entertainment making a profit, signing new talent, exploring more multi-media opportunities. I enjoy being Me, I’m from Tampa FL, and where I’m from even if i go Global Huge Lady Gaga status, they will still be “Oh that’s Funkghost from Tampa”.
